The Cloth Doll Project

First and foremost, when it comes to sewing, my ability and patience levels are about a 3 on a scale of 1 - 10 (1 being laughable, and 10 being super fantastic).  So quite honestly, I'm sure anyone can figure out how to make these dolls, but why waste your precious time and sanity when you can help put me through college?

Next, please feel free to suggest a better word to replace 'dolls'.  There is nothing directly wrong with the word, my dad calls me Doll and I think it's adorable.  The problem is: When I say I'm making dolls people look at me like I'm a crazy person (which I am, but not that kind of crazy).  It's almost as if they expect me to bust out my brand new shiny voodoo kit and perform an epic zombie-esque sword fighting scene (thank you Stardust).  I think calling them 'Cloth Dolls' will help soften the blow, but not much.

Finally,  The Cloth Doll Project.
The Cloth Doll Project is what spurred on the marvelous creative insanity that is The Phina Project.  My oldest niece just turned six and has a crush on Justin Bieber that puts my childhood Jonathan Taylor Thomas crush to shame (oh JTT, *sigh*).  I stumbled upon a blog with some super cute dolls, but couldn't find the pattern anywhere.  I decided that I could figure it out on my own, and was quite surprised by my success.  So...for my niece's birthday I decided to make her a JB Doll and I am pleased to report that she carts him almost everywhere.
The Bieber.
I felt like he was missing something...I put a heart with JB in it on his chest and it was just what he needed.

He turned out cute enough that I made my newest niece her first doll, my sister received Harry Potter (which she had better take to opening night!), and a friend asked me to make him a doll that looks like him. In addition I have made Minnie Mouse, a Pirate, and a Ninja.  Next stop: monsters, Lady Gaga, Einstein, me, and whatever else my little heart could possibly imagine.

As far as the dolls go, they are all hand stitched with magic and love as I watch Doctor Who on Netflix (ooh, a Doctor Who doll would be fun).  They are about 17" tall and $20 each (plus shipping).  I am more than willing to make custom dolls if you so desire.  Since they take a little more attention and detail so they are $25.00 each (plus shipping).  Simply email me a picture or a brief description of hair and color, favorite color, gender, distinguishing marks, tattoos, etc (see Sarah Smiles for an example).  My mom is a genius and suggested I do bride and groom dolls for wedding presents.  I'm open to attempting just about anything and everything.

Please add my Etsy shop to your circles, mark any items you enjoy as a 'favorite' and feel free to give me any and all feedback you may have!
